Dear Educator,
You are a person who has made a lifestyle of helping children. With this in mind, please take a couple of minutes to learn of this incredibly simple idea that has the potential to play a revolutionary role in our continuous fight to better the lives of our children while doing the same for others worldwide.
If you are like me, you have often felt as though you weren't doing enough, while at the same time knowing you barely have the time and energy for the children you work with now. The CHC initiative is an idea that will help the world's children-both locally and globally-and at the same time not drain your own personal resources.
The children in your school or classroom can sponsor a child or children in their own community, other regions of the United States or the world. CHC has provided a list of charitable organizations that have supplied financial support to impoverished children for decades. You may choose from this list ,or if you prefer, one of your own. Many of these organizations provide a venue to communicate with your sponsored child which is an added plus for your students.
Perhaps you are thinking that you are already overwhelmed and feeling apprehensive about being faced with yet another task. The collection of the necessary money may also be a concern. Once the program is in place, however, you may find that neither is a preventative issue. The energy will be self-sustaining and the money will come in abundance.
The actual funding is limited only by yours and your students' imaginations:
Elementary School: Students might choose one day a month to give up a snack and place the corresponding amount of money in a jar for the teacher to collect. Or the school might sponsor penny days. 20 students X $.01 X 20 school days/month X 5 same grade classrooms = $20.00. Just like that!
Middle and High School: Students can choose to sponsor a child as a year long community school project or combine it as part of a peer outreach program.
Obvious benefits of the program include, but are not limited to:
I would love to hear from you and your students regarding how this program is implemented in your school. Please click on FORUM to contact me. I am very interested in how altruism has affected your student's lives and how it has positively impacted your school's climate. So please join me in becoming a part of this international adventure. If you take the first step, your children will do the rest. Â Â Thank you, Susan Randlett
